How This Calculator Works & Mathematical Formula
The Karvonen Heart Rate Reserve (HRR) Method:
- Step 1: Heart Rate Reserve (HRR) = Maximum HR - Resting HR
- Step 2: Target HR = Resting HR + (Target % × HRR)
Unlike simple % Max HR formulas, HRR reflects actual metabolic reserve by taking resting heart rate (cardiovascular fitness) into account.
